Terms & Conditions – Drive Gate Driving School
To ensure complete transparency and avoid any confusion, please read our Terms and Conditions below. We’ve written them in plain, easy-to-understand language for all pupils of Drive Gate Driving School.
Our Instructors
At Drive Gate Driving School, our driving instructors operate as self-employed franchisees. We act solely as their booking and payment agent, transferring lesson payments directly to them.
Therefore, your driving lesson agreement is between you (the pupil) and your instructor.
For your financial safety and peace of mind, we strongly recommend making all block or course payments online directly to Drive Gate Driving School.
We cannot be held responsible for any cash payments made directly to instructors.
All Drive Gate Driving School instructors will:
Driving Test
Your instructor reserves the right to withdraw the use of their vehicle for a driving test if they believe you are not ready.
In such cases, you will receive at least 5 working days’ notice, unless you booked lessons within a shorter timeframe.
If your instructor believes you have a reasonable chance of passing, you may proceed with your test even if you haven’t passed a mock test.
If your instructor becomes unwell or unavailable at short notice, we will do our best to arrange an alternative instructor, though we cannot guarantee availability.
If the instructor’s car becomes unroadworthy before your test, we will attempt to provide a replacement vehicle, but cannot guarantee it will be identical.
If the DVSA examiner refuses to use your instructor’s car due to a safety issue (e.g., puncture, light failure), your instructor will cover the replacement test cost.
If you cause damage to the instructor’s vehicle during your driving test, and the repair cost is below the insurance excess, you will be responsible for the full repair cost.
Refund & Complaints Policy
A full refund will only be issued if no lesson hours have been used.
Refund requests must be made in writing within 30 days of purchase (this also applies to instructor course deposits).
If you are unhappy with a recent lesson, please email info@drivegate.uk
Prepaid block bookings are also valid for 6 months from purchase. If you experience delays or difficulties completing your lessons, notify us in writing before expiry.
After 6 months, unused lessons may be forfeited.
If you cannot continue your block lessons, we may issue a credit note (valid for 6 months) to transfer your remaining lessons to another Drive Gate instructor.
Block bookings are non-refundable once lessons have commenced.
For intensive courses, if you cancel before starting lessons, 50% of your course fee will be retained unless you provide at least two weeks’ notice.
If you cancel after starting, no refund will be issued for remaining hours.
If you wish to make a complaint, first speak with your instructor.
If unresolved, please email info@drivegate.uk with your details and contact number. Our manager will reach out to resolve your issue.
Drive Gate Driving School is not responsible for cash payments made directly to instructors without receipts.
If your complaint concerns test preparation, please raise it before your driving test so we can assist you effectively.
Please note: Every instructor has a unique teaching style. A second opinion from another instructor or school does not automatically mean your current instructor is wrong. If in doubt, contact us directly for support.
